  • What is the SAVE rebate program?

    The rebate program is an initiative under the SAVE program to focus on stimulating sales of energy efficient appliances by increasing the demand through rebates for consumers.

    The program will also reduce the price premium of selected energy efficient appliances in the market. The rebate program will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to qualified domestic consumers who will qualify to purchase 5-Star rated appliances through participating retailers.

  • When does this program start?

    The rebate program will start on July 7, 2011 and will last until all rebates are taken in 2012.

  • Who is spearheading this initiative?

    This program is spearheaded by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA). It is one of the initiatives undertaken as part of the National Key Economic Area (NKEA) for Oil, Gas and Energy through Entry Point Project 9 (EPP9) to improve energy efficiency in the country.

  • What are the qualifying products and brands available under the SAVE rebate program?

    Products that qualify for the rebate program are air conditioners, refrigerators and industrial chiller(s).

  • What are the eligibility criteria for each qualified EE appliance under the SAVE rebate program?

    Eligibility criteria are as follows:

    Refrigerators : Must be 5-Star rated by the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) with net capacity up to 400 litres.

    Air conditioners: Must be 5-Star rated by the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga), wall-mounted split unit type with capacity up to 2.5 Horse Power (HP).

    Chiller(s): Energy efficient chillers to replace old chillers aged 15 years or more, only for comfort cooling in commercial buildings.

  • Are all appliance brands in the market eligible for the rebate program?

    There are currently 12 brands participating in the rebate program. Please refer to the EE Appliance List on this website for more information.

  • What is the total quantity of appliances targeted for this program?

    The total quantity for each appliances in the program are as follows:
    Refrigerators – 100,000 units
    Air conditioners – 65,000 units
    Chiller(s) (Industrial) – 72,000 RT

  • How did the Ministry decide on the rebate amount for each specific appliance?

    The rebate amounts were proposed by the Ministry based on discussions held with various stakeholders, i.e brand owners, distributors and retailers. The rebate amount is deemed as sufficient to kick-start the program and trigger competitive and affordable EE appliances pricing for Malaysian consumers.

  • Where can I get the rebate voucher?

    Log in on www.saveenergy.gov.my and print the rebate voucher according to your eligibility.
    Alternatively, you can print it at a SAVE roadshow / TNB ( Kedai Tenaga ) /SESCO/SESB / participating retailers near you.

  • How do I redeem my rebate voucher?

    You must meet the following criteria:
    Must be a Malaysian consumer.
    Must purchase a new 5-Star rated refrigerator and air conditioner as listed in the EE Appliance List on this website.
    Must make the purchase within one month from the date of voucher printed.
    Must submit a copy of your electricity bill, proof of purchase and IC to your retailer on the day of purchase.
